Charlie, Lucille, Oscar, and Me

This is how I justify sitting in front of the tube, watching the Oscars:  I sew while I watch.  Charlie watches me sew.  Lucille just minds her own business.

Perhaps you've noticed a slight change in my profile photo. It's still Lucille, but a more realistic view as it shows her with all her pins in her head. She's my A-1 Pincushion. The kitties, of course, are fascinated by all those pins, so I have to keep her well out of reach when she's not in use. And, yes, it does seem that Baby Girl is going to be Chloe. Baby Boy is Charlie. So, there you have it. Oh ... one more thing ... I still haven't filed the 2010 taxes. One more day.

UPDATE 1: Taxes have been filed. What a relief.
UPDATE 2: Baby Girl is not Chloe, after all. :-)

I love getting mail. Even though it is so often filled with bills and advertisements, I still approach the mailbox with anticipation - always believing that today is the day I'll get something good. And today I was rewarded with something really special! It's the 2010-2011 edition of Quilting Arts Gifts and I'm so excited because my Make-do Pincushions article is in it! They did such a beautiful job of photographing it and the layout is fabulous. Thank You, Pokey Bolton and Pippa Eccles!

It's Been A Fabulous Week

It's for an upcoming article in Quilting Arts magazine, which is all I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil the surprise. But, WOW, I had a ball making whatever it is.

The winner of my 100th post give away is the lovely Gwen Buchanan at Desideratum. The photo, left, is sunset over the Bay of Fundy, as seen from Gwen's home in St. Martins. We've never met, but I love visiting her blog and I am so pleased that my make-do will soon take up residence in Gwen's beautiful, hand made home.

Make-Do Pincushion - 100th post give-away!

This make-do pincushion is made from felted wool which I make by repeatedly washing old sweaters in hot soapy water. This turns the wool into a thick wool felt. The make-do has four hearts stitched onto the top, it is firmly stuffed with wool, and it is securely attached atop a glass candlestick base. About 6.5" tall.
