I'm on a destash binge, selling bundles of wool at my Etsy vintage shop, wickedwaifVINTAGE. Come on over and take a look!
PHOTO :: SAGE WINDSOR
It started like this and was handed over to me by the person who made it. It was quite beautiful but she no longer loved it. My assignment was to alter it in some way and she gave me permission to do anything I wanted.
I played with paint, and glitter, and charms of all sorts ... very messy and fun.
I actually wanted to make it all white and glittery, with palest washes of icy, arctic blue. I think we all know by now that I am apparently incapable of staying within a white palette ... color always breaks through.

Now it has been handed over to yet another creative person and we'll see what she's done with it at the end of another week.
I make progress, slowly. I tend to spend a lot of time just gazing at the stitches, in a reverie not conducive to productivity. It's a meditation ... no thoughts, just being there with the fibers.
Visit Jack Kerouac on Meditation HERE. Or you could just be a cat. I'm sure cats like to meditate.
Yo - Jack Kerouac - I am a very hep cat.
It was Red Tag Day at Goodwill, meaning 50% off anything with a red tag. I was looking for metal that could be used to embellish jewelry and I found this brass basket, for $1.50. The pretty white pitcher is not from Goodwill - it was a gift from a dear friend. I just popped the metal pieces in there to keep them away from the cats. Then I decided I liked the look - a bouquet of weird metal. :-)
I wonder how many months (years?) will pass before I actually use it. I'm a procrastinator, you know.
I finally managed to get some photos of Doug's latest diminutive cut-paper creations. Above is the "Special Delivery" Valentine which he made for Adeline this year. It is made from white card stock and it is three inches tall.
For me, Doug made a "Bird on a Wire" with a tiny, glittery heart in it's beak. It is one and three-quarter inches tall. My favorite of all his paper creations? The tiny paper sandals, below. As you can see, they are quite elderly, with lots of foxing. He made them about thirty years ago, on an airplane. He was in Business Class, flying to some far-flung meeting, and while the man sitting next to him did serious business work, Doug took out an index card and an Exacto knife and made these. Oh, they are darling.
He makes such wonderful, whimsical things.
