Lucky Me
Earth Star has arrived. It was made by Jude Hill during her online Cloth to Cloth workshop. As I watched its progress, I bonded with it. I am so pleased that I was able to scoop it up from her online shop and now it lives with me. Is it not beautiful? So soft, so endearing.
I made a decision regarding the border for Nostalgia. Do you like it? You can click on the picture to enlarge it.
Speaking of liking things, how do you like my needle roll? It was a gift from my friend Annie Hayes. Annie gave me this luscious length of wool, thinking I might like to incorporate it into my work. But I just love it on its own, so I rolled it up and set it on my sewing table. So nice to be working with this reminder of my friendship with a special person. You know how it is when you're sewing --- if your pincushion isn't nearby, then you start sticking pins and needles into whatever is handy.
Annie makes beautiful, primitive hooked rugs. Here's one I like a lot. It shows the traditional Hand in Heart, associated with the Shakers and the Shaker wisdom: "Hands to work, hearts to God."

It is 4:15 a.m. Once again I have stayed up for way too long. Time for me to go to bed. Nite Nite.
Bold and Beautiful
Sweet Maria Greene included my Sunset Dreams quilt in her Bold and Beautiful Etsy Treasury.
Thank you, Maria!
Nostalgia
It's been named - Nostalgia - named by Jude, who has naming rights
by virtue of being its godmother, so to speak.
I've so enjoyed the process. The tearing, cutting and weaving.
The stitching and layering and stitching some more.
I like that it looks like "me" rather than looking like a Jude clone. I love learning from Jude, but it is important for my muse to mess with it, too. I think it has become a cousin of my Pieces of Dreams series of little quilts. It seems I am seduced by the notion of adding many little squares. And, I'm just now realizing the obvious . . . that I tend toward the symmetrical . . . what is that all about? What happened to wild, untamed Morna?
I may or may not add a border. I'll have to live with it for a bit before I decide.
I am massively looking forward to doing more of this cloth weaving. Many thanks to Jude for being such a generous teacher. I highly recommend her Cloth to Cloth Workshop, which is being offered for a third time.
First Fire of the Season
Yesterday I broke down and turned on the heat in the family room for a few hours. Today Doug built the first fire in the family room fireplace. So, it's official. Winter is coming.
I spent most of the day sitting in the family room with Doug, enjoying the fire, sewing, and watching old episodes of Weeds. I lead a racy life.

Understatement of the year.

A Bit of Stitching
The laundry piles up, the closets remain cluttered, there's work to be done that doesn't get done because Morna sits in her chair with thread and needle. Stitch, stitch, stitch . . . . . the shapes are starting to show themselves.
